What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness-based hypnotherapy has become a 'flavour of the month' treatment approach for many different psychological conditions and it seems everyone has been jumping on the mindfulness bandwagon to learn, practice and teach mindfulness. Integrating Mindfulness and Hypnotherapy is a technique being promoted by the NHS and being taught in schools and workplaces. According to the dictionary mindfulness is "a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique." As a hypnotherapist it is important to understand what mindfulness is and how it relates to hypnosis and hypnotherapy. You may have clients come to you who are doing mindfulness or you may want to understand mindfulness and how it can be used within your hypnotherapy practice. Or you may want to become a mindfulness practitioner.
By attending this master class you will gain insight into what mindfulness is and understand how it can effectively be applied in your client treatment strategy. You will learn a simple but very effective mindfulness technique that can be taught to your clients to help them take control of anxiety, worry and stress. You will also be given information to help you decide if you want to embark on becoming a mindfulness practitioner and how best to learn mindfulness without investing a great deal of money.
The ICCHP is becoming more involved in mindfulness based research projects being delivered in schools and universities, working with both students and teachers. This may lead to opportunities for ICCHP graduates to get involved in these projects.
